Keeping your inventory up to date is crucial for ensuring technicians are equipped, jobs are planned properly, and stock shortages are avoided. In FieldEx, stock levels for spare parts and assets are updated via the Adjust Inventory function or directly from the Bin view. This article explains the correct methods for adjusting quantities, stocking in or out, and checking availability.

Tip: Always include a note when adjusting stock quantities in FieldEx—this helps with audits, reconciliations, and accountability.

Adjusting Stock Quantities

You can increase or decrease stock quantities using the Adjust Inventory feature.

Method 1: Using Adjust Inventory

Path: Inventory > Adjust Inventory > Select Asset or Spare Part

  1. Go to Inventory > Adjust Inventory

  2. Select the spare part or asset

  3. Choose the target bin (e.g., RACK-A2, BIN-VAN-AMIR)

  4. Enter the quantity:

    • For stocking in → positive number

    • For removing stock → negative number

  5. Click Save to confirm the adjustment

This is the most direct way to perform a quantity in or out action.

Method 2: From Bin View

Path: Inventory > Bin > Add Spare Part to Bin or Add Asset to Bin

  1. Select to the bin where the stock will be stored

  2. Click Add Spare Part or Add Asset

  3. Select the item

  4. Enter quantity (for parts) or select asset (for assets)

  5. Click Save

This is useful when you’re managing stock from the bin’s perspective for example, prepping a technician van or updating a returns bin.

Checking Current Stock Availability

Path: Inventory > Check Availability

  1. Go to Inventory > Check Availability

  2. Search by:

    • Bin (to see all items stored there)

    • Spare Part or Asset (to see where it is and how much)

  3. Review:

    • Quantity in each bin

    • Bin location and zone

    • Last movement or usage history

Use this to verify if parts are ready for dispatch, if a technician is stocked, or if you need to restock.
