Creating a Contract

The Contracts module offers a robust solution for maintaining detailed records of customer and asset contracts, including essential information such as custodians and validity periods.

Creating a new Contract


Path: Asset > Contracts >New

Please note: Contract creation permission is required in order to create Asset Contracts in FieldEx. Visit Setting up User Access to set up these permissions or contact your Admin for assistance.

  1. Customer, Status, Start Date, and End Date are mandatory fields.

  2. The Customer field is auto-populated when Contracts are added through an Asset that has a customer tied to it. Otherwise, you may manually select the customer using the lookup.

  3. Status describes the different stages that a Contract may go through.

  4. The Custodian picklist consists of the Customer Contacts registered under the selected Customer.

  5. The Active checkbox indicates if the contract is still active or has completed its due course.

  6. A relevant Sales Order can be added to the contract if available as an additional reference.

  7. Start Date refers to the first day the contract takes effect and, End Date refers to the last day the contract will be in effect.

  8. A contract may be canceled before its end date using the ‘Cancel Contract’ button on the view page.

  9. Each Asset can have multiple contracts.

  10. Each contract can have multiple assets and accessories tied to it. These may be added under their respective tabs on the asset view page.
