To operate confidently with the FieldEx App, technicians must be familiar with three key terms: Job Orders, Assets, and Checklists. These are the building blocks of all technician workflows in the system. Understanding how they connect will help you complete your tasks more effectively and ensure accurate reporting in the field.

Job Order

A Job Order is an assigned task that a technician must complete. It can be a repair, preventive maintenance visit, installation, inspection, or any other field service activity. Every job order provides all the details you need to carry out the work, including:

  • Job type and scheduled date

  • Customer and site information

  • Linked assets and their conditions

  • Job status (e.g. Assigned, On-Site, In Progress, Completed)

  • Required spare parts, forms, or checklists

  • Task assignments

  • Relevant attachments

Job Orders keep you informed, organized, and accountable while on-site.

Assets

An Asset in FieldEx is any piece of equipment, machine, tool, or installation that your company tracks, services, or inspects. For technicians, assets are central to your day-to-day work because most jobs are performed on or around them.

Assets can include:

  • Machines at a customer site

  • Equipment used in production

  • Devices requiring scheduled maintenance

  • Items transferred between locations or bins

Each asset holds complete historical and operational data, which helps technicians make informed decisions in the field.

Checklists

A Checklist in FieldEx is a structured digital form that guides technicians through specific steps required during a job. It ensures consistent service delivery, safety compliance, and accurate data collection regardless of which technician performs the job.

Checklists are linked to job orders and may be tailored to the type of job, the asset being serviced, or your company’s operational procedures.

Checklists ensure all equipment and assets get inspected before handing it over to the customer or even before utilizing it.
