In FieldEx, understock thresholds and reorder quantities help you track when inventory levels are running low whether in a warehouse, van, or jobsite bin. By setting these limits, planners and inventory teams can receive early warnings and plan stock transfers or purchase orders before shortages impact operations.
This article covers:
What reorder quantity and understock threshold mean
Where to configure them per bin
How this data supports alerts and replenishment workflows
Key Definitions
When current stock drops below the understock threshold, the bin is flagged and can be included in low-stock reports or dashboards.
Field | Description |
Reorder Quantity | The preferred quantity to replenish when stock is low (e.g., restock 10 units) |
Understock Threshold | The minimum level at which the system flags the bin as running low (e.g., 3 units) |
How to Set Understock Thresholds
You can define these values when updating a spare part inside a bin:
Path 1: Inventory > Adjust Inventory > Adjust a Spare Part
Select the Spare Part and open the relevant Bin
Set:
Reorder Quantity (e.g., 20 units)
Understock Threshold (e.g., 5 units)
Add a Note for reference (e.g., “Weekly van refill”)
Click Save to confirm the changes
How This Data Is Used
Once set, these thresholds support:
Dashboard widgets showing “Spare Parts Under Stock”
Reporting views sorted by understock status
Manual or automated transfer planning to refill technician vans or jobsite kits
They are especially helpful when managing dozens of technician bins or mobile depots that are replenished from a central warehouse.
Tip: Set higher reorder quantities for remote bins or high-usage parts to reduce the frequency of refills. |
