Assets Management

Asset Management is at the core of how FieldEx operates. All jobs, checklists, and maintenance activities in the system revolve around assets. In FieldEx, an asset is any operational unit such as a machine, vehicle, tool, or device that your business owns, installs, rents out, maintains, or services.

Assets are not limited to what you own. If your team needs to track it, assign work orders, complete checklists, log faults, or schedule preventive maintenance, it should be managed as an asset in FieldEx.

Asset Management: Identify Your Operational Assets

Below are some examples of how assets are defined across different industries. This helps you recognise what you should include in your asset list when setting up FieldEx.

Industry

What are my assets?

Construction Equipment

Excavators, generators, tower lights, compressors, fuel tanks

HVAC Service

Chillers, air conditioning units, air handlers, blowers, cooling towers

Coffee Machine Rental

Coffee machines, grinders, milk coolers

Vehicle Maintenance

Buses, vans, trucks, lorries

Medical Equipment Service

Oxygen concentrators, infusion pumps, ventilators, patient monitors

Manufacturing Plants

CNC machines, compressors, robotic arms, power panels, production conveyors

Facilities Management

Fire extinguishers, airconds, water pumps, elevators, access control panels

Agricultural Operations

Tractors, harvesters, irrigation pumps, cold storage units

Power & Utilities

Generators, HVAC units, substations, power stations

Tip: If your team works with or around it and needs to track it, maintain it, or report on it, then treat it as an asset.

Why Asset Mapping Matters

Understanding and mapping your assets correctly is the first and most important step in adapting FieldEx to your operations. Once your asset records are in place, all other modules like job orders, checklists, spare parts, maintenance schedules, and analytics can function effectively.

By treating asset setup as your foundation, you'll gain full lifecycle visibility: from asset acquisition to daily usage, through servicing and all the way to decommissioning.
