FieldEx automatically records labour hours and journey mileage as technicians complete their tasks in the mobile app. For Planners, this data provides essential visibility into time spent on-site and travel efforts, helping manage productivity, verify job duration, and track resource usage across teams.

This article explains:

  • How labour hours and mileage are captured

  • What Planners can see on completed tasks

  • How this data is used in reporting and technician reviews

How Labour Hours & Mileage Are Captured

When technicians use the FieldEx mobile app to start and complete a task, the system tracks:

  • Labour Hours: Automatically calculated based on when the task was started and marked complete

  • Journey Mileage: Automatically calculated using mobile GPS tracking, based on technician movement between task locations

This allows Planners to see travel effort without requiring manual input from technicians.

Planner View: Completed Task Details

Once a task is marked as Completed, you can view:

  • Total time spent on the task (auto-calculated)

  • Journey mileage (auto-calculated)

  • Task and Job completion logs, including timestamps and technician comments

Path: Jobs > Open Job > Tasks Tab > Click on Task > View Task Details

Tip: Use this data to identify long-duration tasks, high-travel jobs, or inconsistencies between similar task types.

Why This Data Matters

FieldEx logs labour and mileage to help you:

  • Validate time spent: Compare estimated vs actual duration

  • Track field costs: Calculate labour cost per job or per technician

  • Review team efficiency: Spot delays or travel-heavy jobs across zones

  • Support reporting: Feed into KPI dashboards and customer billing logic
