In FieldEx, you can customize inspection templates to match different types of equipment, service zones, or operational workflows. This ensures that every job or task pulls in the correct checklist whether it’s for HVAC units, forklifts, rental returns, or warehouse audits.

This article explains:

  • How to assign checklists to specific asset types or zones

  • How to use job templates to pre-link the correct checklist

  • How this improves accuracy and reduces manual setup

Assigning Checklists by Asset Type or Service Zone

When creating or editing a checklist, you can define which assets it applies to:

  • Path: Settings > Workflow > Checklists > Open Checklist > Details Tab

Checklist filters include:

  • Asset Type: (e.g., Generator, Vehicle, HVAC)

  • Service Zone: (e.g., “North Warehouse”, “Rental Client Region”)

  • Equipment Type: (e.g., Model or Brand-based targeting)

This ensures the checklist only appears for jobs involving matching assets.

Example: A “Forklift Pre-Use Checklist” is only applied to assets classified as Forklift and only at distribution centre service zones.

Best Practices for Custom Templates

  • Use naming that reflects both the asset and workflow type (e.g., “PM – Diesel Generator”, “Forklift – Pre-Rental Inspection”)

  • Group templates by asset category or industry segment for easier selection

  • Use checklist filters to avoid technicians seeing irrelevant templates in mobile view
