FieldEx supports barcode and QR code scanning to make inventory management and job execution faster, more accurate, and easier for mobile users. Whether you’re transferring a part, checking availability, or logging usage during a job, scanning lets you skip manual searching and act instantly.

Tip: QR scanning works on any device with a camera using the FieldEx Mobile App. You don’t need external hardware, just point and scan to perform actions instantly.

Why Scanning Matters

Manually searching for item names or codes slows you down and introduces errors. With FieldEx scanning:

  • Spare parts and assets are instantly identified

  • Job tasks and forms are linked faster

  • Transfers and usage are tracked accurately

  • Technicians can focus on the work, not the data entry

All you need is a phone or tablet with the FieldEx Mobile App. The device camera is used as the scanner.

Where You Can Use Barcode/QR Scanning in FieldEx

1. Search and Identify Items

Path: Mobile App > Home > Scan Icon (Bottom Bar)

  • Scan any part or asset barcode

  • Instantly pull up the record

  • View current stock, details, and location

Useful when locating items in the field or verifying availability before a job.

2. Create Transactions

Path: Mobile App > Scan > Transfer / Adjust Stock / Job Action

  • After scanning, choose one of the available actions:

    • Transfer the item to another bin (e.g., from warehouse to van)

    • Adjust Stock (e.g., receive into bin, deduct faulty stock)

    • Use on Job (e.g., add part usage to an ongoing job order)

Technicians can scan and immediately log part usage into the job record, no dropdowns or searches required.

3. Start Job-Linked Workflows

Scan an asset QR code to instantly:

  • Create a job order

  • Launch an inspection checklist

  • Log a fault or reading

Each asset's QR code can be set to open specific workflows or forms, speeding up field inspections or installations.
